VAGABOND's HOUSE -Poem- (shortened)

West of the sunset stands a house, there... and east of the dawn; North to the Arctic runs my yard; South to the Pole, my lawn; Seven seas are to sail my ships. To the end of the earth ... beyond. Drifters' gold is for me to spend for I am a vagabond. Fabulous cities are mine to loot. Queens of the earth to wed; fruits of the world are mine to eat; the couch of the king, my bed. All that I see is mine to keep. Foolish, the fancy seems. But I am rich with the world of Sight. The coin of the realm of dreams. When I have a house..as I sometime may ... I'll suit my fancy in every way. I'll fill it with things that have caught my eye in drifting from Iceland to Molakai. It won't be correct or in period style. But ... oh, I've thought for a long, long while. - Don Blanding
GOLD - Poem-

My treasure chest is filled with gold.
Gold . . . gold . . . gold . . .
Vagabond's gold and drifter's gold . . .
Worthless, priceless, dreamer's gold . . .
Gold of the sunset . . . gold of the dawn . . .Gold of the showertrees on my lawn . . .
Poet's gold and artist's gold . . .
Gold that can not be bought or sold -
Gold. - Don Blanding

"I do believe in magic. I was born and raised in a magic time, in a magic town, among magicians. When I was twelve, the words was my magic lantern, and by its green spirit glow I saw the past, the present, and into the future. We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see out destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put in the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to grow up, for Gods sake. And you know why were told that? Because the people doing the telling were afraid of our wilderness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad at what they allowed to whither in themselves. After you get so far away fro it, though, you cant really get it back. You can have seconds of it. Just seconds of knowing and remembering. When people get all weepy at movies, its because in that dark theatre, the golden pool of magic is touched, just briefly. Then they come out into the hard sun of logic and reason again and it dries up, and theyre left feeling a little heartsad and not knowing why. For the briefest of instants, you have stepped into the magic realm. The truth of life is that every year we get farther away from the essence that is born within us. We get shouldered with burdens, some of them good, some of them not so good. Things happen to us. Loved ones die. People get in wrecks, and get crippled. Its not hard to do, in this world of crazy mazes. Life itself does its best to take that memory of magic away from us. You dont know its happening until one day you feel like youve lost something, but youre not sure what it is." -Robert McCammon

leaving

sand on hte last day, the bad days become so difficult to recall, because one way or another, she had made a life here, just as i had. the town was paper, but hte memories were not. all the things i’d done here, all the love and pity and compassion and violence and spite, kept welling up inside me

as paralyzing and upsetting as all the ‘never agains’ were, the final leaving felt perfect. pure. the most distillled possible form of liberation. everything that matter except one

it’s so hard to leave-- until you leave. and then it’s the easiest thing in the world. leaving feels good, once you leave...... i leave and leave and the leaving is so exhilaratig i know i can never go back. but then what? do i just keep leaving places? and leaving them, and leaving them tramping a perpetual journey?

leaving feels good, and pure only when you leave something important, somethign that mattered to you. Pulling life out by the roots. but you can’t do that until your life has grown roots.

"if ever there is tomorrow when we're not together...there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart...i'll always be with you."
winnie the pooh

like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. they forget that when they get old. they get scared of losing and failing. but that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail. thomas edison's last words were: 'it's very beautiful over there.' i don't know where there is, but i believe it's somewhere, and i hope it's beautiful."
john green

am an acme of things accomplish’d, and I an encloser of things to be.

My feet strike an apex of the apices of the stairs;
On every step bunches of ages, and larger bunches between the steps;
All below duly travel’d, and still I mount and mount.

I know I have the best of time and space, and was never measured, and never will be measured.

tramp a perpetual journey...
Not I—not any one else, can travel that road for you,
You must travel it for yourself.
It is not far—it is within reach;
Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know;
Perhaps it is every where on water and on land.
~ Walt Whitman

"It always shocked me when I realized I wasn't the only person in the world who thought and felt such strange and awful things.

"You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress, prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill. You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close you could taste them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is its hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely cause almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true. At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don't really expect it. Its like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And its not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you , and once in a while people may even take your breath."
Kissing slowly. Loving deeply. Hearts Shatter.
Walk less quickly. Admire the sunset. Envy the moon. Pain teaches us how much more we can take. 'Best Friends' means forever.
Sometimes you look in the mirror just to watch the reflection cry. Life is no storybook. Grudges are a waste of time. Don't ever go with the flow. Mistakes are life. Sometimes your handle on life breaks.
Never change yourself. No fear. Don't doubt. Ban insecurities. Get rid of inhibitions. Love never gets easier.
Work like you don't need the money Love like you've never been hurt. Sing like no one is listening. Dance like no one is watching.
Life is a record, I bounce to the beats. Know your friends, but know your enemies better. There's no "I" in TEAM; but there's a "ME".
Don't depend on anyone other than yourself. There's such thing as a happy ending. Forever is a long time. People are a virus. Music is not life. Don't blame other people. Cause a scene. Beauty is overrated. Live like there's no tomorrow. Don't waste time on people who aren't worth it. Look around you. Never back down.
Some things never get better. Strive. Don't count on anything. Respect yourself more than anything. Hold tight. Always go down fighting.
You're not going to live forever. You can heal without forgetting. Wish on a star. Breathe deep. Close your eyes. Jump.

"when adults say, 'teenagers think they are invincible' with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. we need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. we think that we are invincible because we are. we cannot be born, and we cannot die. like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. they forget that when they get old. they get scared of losing and failing. but that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail. thomas edison's last words were: 'it's very beautiful over there.' i don't know where there is, but i believe it's somewhere, and i hope it's beautiful."

Go after her. Fuck, don’t sit there and wait for her to call, go after her because that’s what you should do if you love someone, don’t wait for them to give you a sign cause it might never come, don’t let people happen to you, don’t let me happen to you, or her, she’s not a fucking television show or tornado. There are people I might have loved had they gotten on the airplane or run down the street after me or called me up drunk at four in the morning because they need to tell me right now and because they cannot regret this and I always thought I’d be the only one doing crazy things for people who would never give enough of a fuck to do it back or to act like idiots or be entirely vulnerable and honest and making someone fall in love with you is easy and flying 3000 miles on four days notice because you can’t just sit there and do nothing and breathe into telephones is not everyone’s idea of love but it is the way I can recognize it because that is what I do. Go scream it and be with her in meaningful ways because that is beautiful and that is generous and that is what loving someone is, that is raw and that is unguarded, and that is all that is worth anything, really.
